Stop That

The app that interrupts doomscrolling and heckles you back to work.

Stop That preview

The problem

Blockers are easy to ignore and even easier to turn off. And nobody decides to doomscroll. It's automatic.

Also, most blockers are boring, and too nice. I want to be shamed into doing the right thing.

What it is

Stop That is a Mac app that catches you in the apps and sites you told it to watch, and rips into you until you stop. A little bubble attaches to your cursor with warnings that get progressively ruder the longer you keep scrolling. Ignore it long enough and it teleports you back to your work. There's a Quiet mode for text only, a Loud mode that says it out loud, and a panic hotkey for when life actually is on fire.

It runs entirely on your Mac. No account, no cloud, no subscription. You pay $29 once and it's yours.

I built the first version in a Saturday afternoon, and it earned me my first internet money.

Where it is

Shipping for macOS at stopthat.app. A mobile version is in the works, because the phone is where the worst scrolling happens. After that: custom voices and personality modes (Encouraging, Brutal, or Chaos).
